At our November meeting last night, we heard a report from two of our members who attended the Moolapio Grasslands Restoration day at Point Henry. By all accounts it was an excellent afternoon, and our members were impressed by what has been achieved in only two or three years.
The grasslands restoration project is a partnership between Greening Australia and Alcoa to re-establish native grasses and wildflowers on land previously used for agriculture. The method they are using is direct seeding, which Friends of Edwards Point also uses on our Western Block. We saw a flyer of the many wildflowers and grasses that have been established successfully at Pt Henry, which gives encouragement for the success of our own plans.
